Project Overview
This project involved comprehensive soil re-engineering and revamping works at Ado Badore, Lagos State, aimed at creating a stable and durable foundation for future infrastructure and development initiatives within the area.
Project Scope and Objectives
The primary objective was to ensure that the site was properly prepared to meet the geotechnical requirements for its intended use. This included achieving the desired CBR values, which are critical in assessing the strength of soil and its suitability for supporting roads, pavements, and other structural loads. To achieve this, the project team implemented a sequence of specialized soil treatment processes, combining layer compaction, consolidation, and stability enhancement techniques. These procedures were carefully planned and executed to eliminate soil weaknesses, enhance load-bearing capacity, and provide long-term durability of the land.
Key Project Components
1. Land Revamping and Grading
The natural terrain was cleared, leveled, and reshaped to eliminate irregularities and prepare it for uniform compaction.
Topsoil and unsuitable materials were removed to expose firm subsoil layers.
2. Layer Compaction
Soil was compacted systematically in controlled layers using heavy-duty rollers and other advanced compaction equipment.
Each layer was tested to confirm compliance with engineering standards and strength requirements.
3. Consolidation and Stabilization
The soil mass was consolidated to improve density, reduce settlement, and enhance its structural performance.
Stabilization methods, including moisture conditioning and mechanical treatment, were applied to achieve uniformity across the site.
4. Quality Assurance and Testing
Rigorous field and laboratory tests, including CBR testing, were carried out to confirm that the compacted soil layers met the design specifications.
Ongoing monitoring ensured consistent results and compliance with required engineering codes.
Achievements and Impact
Delivered a well-consolidated and structurally stable foundation capable of supporting planned developments in the Ado Badore area.
Ensured long-term stability by eliminating potential risks of soil settlement and failure.
Significantly improved the geotechnical profile of the site, making it suitable for diverse construction purposes such as roadways, residential developments, and industrial use.
Contributed to the broader infrastructure growth and urban expansion plans of Lagos State, particularly within the Ado Badore–Ajah axis.
